Thursday, 22 May marked the culmination of Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) – a popular, annual event that sees a wealth of designers descend upon various locations in the capital.
Taking place over three days, from Tuesday, 20 May, CDW was, as ever, bustling with innovations, installations and a host of presentations. The latter tackled a variety of relevant interiors and design topics, while CDW also featured over 200 resident showrooms across 16 venues.
In short, says organisers, the free event provided ‘no shortage of inspiration’ for its attendees, who come from far and wide to see what CDW has to offer. The team here at Nene Valley Leather travelled to London to attend the event, too…did you? If so, how was it – and what did you find most inspiring? Don’t forget to let us know over on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
In the meantime, here are just some of CDW’s highlights, from the perspective of our team…
More, More, Moreso!
We – and probably thousands of other attendees – couldn’t get enough of Moroso, which returned to CDW this year with its fully renovated flagship store at London’s 7-15 Rosebery Avenue (EC1R 4SP).
Including newly launched collections designed by Patricia Urquiola, García Cumini and Zanellato Bortotto, the store also featured plenty of the brand’s best sellers. We’d love to see some of its pieces upholstered in our own leather range and we will be keeping a close eye on what the Moreso team does next.
Front Row Seats for Benchmark
Joining forces with a group of B.A. Product and Furniture Design students from London Metropolitan University, Benchmark displayed its quintessentially British collection at this year’s CDW.
Using offcuts sourced from Benchmark’s workshop in Berkshire, students repurposed a wealth of objects into various items, including a side table, a book stand and a wall-leaning light – and we loved taking in the eye-catching collection.
A World of Wellness
‘Wellness’ is a key consideration for interior designers everywhere – and the movement was the focus for Dezeen magazine’s Editorial Director, Max Fraser, in his talk (‘Embedding Wellness into Homes, the Workplace, Hospitality and Beyond’).
During the presentation, attendees heard from a trio of people who are leading the wellness charge in both private and public domains, ‘using design to drive calm, healing and uplifting spaces’. At Nene Valley Leather, we hope our range can also inspire our clients to incorporate a pinch of wellness into the settings they’re transforming.
As CDW ended, Nene Valley Leather’s founder, Daniel Heginbotham, had this to say about the event: “CDW never fails to impress our team here at Nene Valley Leather. We attend annually, without fail, and this year was just as good – if not better – than previous years.
“It was great to discover, yet again, the breadth of design talent at the event – and we came away with all kinds of inspiration to ensure our product line continues to meet the demands of our trend-focused clients.
“We had some great conversations with attendees as well, and we’ll look forward to getting in touch with them soon to see how we can help. We can’t wait to see what the event has to offer in 2026 and, as ever, we hope to meet some of our customers, old, new and prospective – see you next year!”
