Did you know…World Leather Day is just around the corner, taking place on Saturday, April 26 and celebrating all that is great and good about the leather industry.
The occasion is organised by Leather Naturally and Leather Working Group and it’s designed to promote the positive aspects of leather and its sustainable attributes. Of course, here at Nene Valley Leather we’re all about banging the drum for sustainable leather. We’re so focused on the sustainability of our products, in fact, that we continue to plug our own ‘Sustainability Promise’ far and wide.
Since first shouting about our sustainability promise, we’ve made steps to eliminate carburation oil, and we’ve reduced Co2 emissions by 21.3%. There’s more, too – head to our homepage to find out what else we’re doing in the drive towards a more sustainable industry (and planet!).
World Leather Day and its 2025 Theme
World Leather Day seems as good a time as any to continue to champion sustainable leather – and it’s as if the event organisers have read our minds, with the theme for 2025 being ‘Beyond the Surface’.
Focusing on transparency, responsible production, and the true nature of leather, the awareness day aims to showcase the benefits of leather and its role in a responsible future.
Sustainability is as important to our customers as it is to us – and when you choose Nene Valley Leather, you can be sure our method of production is always kind.
Locally Sourced Leather, from ‘Farm to Furniture’
“From ‘farm to furniture’, the leather we use is locally sourced.” says our founder, Daniel Heginbotham. “This means it doesn’t have to travel too far to make its journey to your clients’ homes or hospitality settings. By supporting us and our range, you’re helping us create change. Ahead of, during and following World Leather Day, what could be better than that?”
To mark World Leather Day, we’ll continue to let our customers know about our ranges and how, when you buy from us, you can rest assured you’re not only receiving great quality products, you’re doing your bit for the environment too.
Industry Transparency is Key to Client Confidence
World Leather Day encourages companies like ours to be transparent about their leather production, which includes auditing tanneries and using chemicals responsibly. Involving key stakeholders in the leather industry – including manufacturers, retailers, and craftsmen – the global initiative emphasises leather’s role in a circular economy by promoting repair, reuse, and repurposing.
“We’re committed to improving operations within the industry on the whole – and in order to do so, we work closely with industry bodies, including Leather UK, Leather Working Group and Leather Naturally.” continues Daniel.
“We aim to inspire and inform designers, creators and consumers about the beauty, quality and versatility of responsibly sourced leather and World Leather Day gives us yet another reason to do just that.”
